What should I do if the hash does not match?

Does renaming a file change its hash?

No. The hash is calculated from the file's contents, not its name. Renaming an unrelated file cannot make it match the official download.

What if there is no published hash?

There is no reference to compare with. Open the exact GitHub release and check whether the project provides a checksum there.

Should I check the archive or the extracted application?

What should I do if macOS warns on first launch?
