Problems or notes: In Kokiri Forest, haze, blotches, and a translucent band appear in a fullscreen pass. Rejecting shader 3ddfb1d7a854c849 removed the haze and blotches in that test, while rejecting 780c0536b89fc89e removed fog but left blotches; these workarounds also remove game effects. Two starts stayed black from the beginning, one with music. A reported 31–37 FPS comparison against build-75 used views that were not identical.

Recorded FPS15–51 FPS

Problems or notes: Foliage, grass, shadows, and atmosphere were reported as substantially improved, and the Great Deku Tree exterior dialogue and interior corridor rendered visibly. Some eastern outdoor views remained severely white/yellow and washed out. Outdoor performance varied from 28–31 FPS in other views to about 15 FPS in problematic areas; the Deku Tree exterior dialogue showed 36 FPS and the interior showed 51 FPS. Texture-format and texture-index assertions were logged; one earlier Accurate attempt exited with code -1073740791, while a later session ran about 20m31s and exited normally. No causal link between assertions, lighting, or the earlier crash was established.

From build-75 to build-83: follow the gameplay changes described for these two builds.

Fixed missing vegetation, incorrect materials and lighting, a glowing doorway, one-frame white flashes, and an AMD black 3D scene. Added Max Resolution (built-in), enabled by default for the supported game build, and Ocarina-specific frame-ahead presentation tuning.

Before: Missing vegetation and incorrect material data; affected lighting and colours; a glowing doorway; one-frame white flashes; and on AMD, shaders could produce a black 3D scene.

After: Additional shader pointers and storage-buffer bindings, corrected buffer tracking and mesh-shader register handling, fixed occlusion-query and nested-return handling, and added the Max Resolution add-on and frame-ahead presentation tuning.

With the reported storage-write extent branch, the intro-first sequence gave 44–47 FPS, gameplay about 35–48 FPS, and auto-exposure stayed correct. These are user-reported test results.

Known Game Issues

Ocarina of Time

On macOS/MoltenVK with an Apple M1, the Switch 2 NSO version boots and plays audio but presents a black image from startup, with approximately 1 FPS and occasional red/green block artifacts.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

On AMD GPUs, Ocarina of Time's compute shaders can fail compilation with VK_ERROR_OUT_OF_HOST_MEMORY or cause the AMD driver to crash. The issue report describes missing intro video and an eventual process crash; a later user reports an access violation inside amdvlk64.dll.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

OpenGL is reported not to work for this game because GLSL task and mesh programs are not implemented, resulting in repeated errors and an emulator hang.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Rejecting shader hashes before translation skips their dispatches and can result in missing output or a black screen; a user reports the environment switch did not affect the tested Vulkan compute-pipeline path.

Recorded fix: For testing shader rejection, keep the disk shader cache off or delete it before each run; the maintainer says cached shaders are loaded without checking the rejection list.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Performance slows in crowded or busy areas, with front/back GPU-thread synchronization drains and waits; short freezes while attacking are also reported.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Shader compilation can cause freezes of about 3 seconds with each step, according to a user report.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

On integrated AMD graphics, device-memory thresholds can keep the texture cache collector in aggressive mode even though deleting all images cannot reduce total usage below the threshold. This causes extensive image churn and GPU waits during gameplay.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Switch 2)

On Build 95 Non-PGO in Linux AMD RADV, the game remains black-screened while intro audio plays, even after shader compilation. The symptom persisted across the reported Wayland/XWayland and environment-variable tests, and after removing Vulkan Pipeline Cache and Cache Storage.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Switch 2)

Build 117 renders again, but the user reports substantial FPS and frametime variability, including drops to 19 FPS.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Severe performance, around 8 FPS (approximately 123 ms frame time), on macOS with Apple M5 using Vulkan / MoltenVK at 1x resolution; the report also says MoltenVK fallback warnings occur. A commenter reports the same issue on Mac M4.
